As a 4×4 hub controller, the FE18.1 from Terminus Technology enables four configurable upstream ports and four downstream ports – for multi-host sharing with MTT architecture and USB charging support.
The FE18.1 is a USB 2.0 high-speed 4×4 hub controller with 4 configurable upstream facing ports (UFP) and 4 downstream facing ports (DFP). The number of upstream ports can be reduced to 2, 3 or 4 via board configuration; one UFP is active at a time during runtime. This architecture is suitable for systems with multiple USB hosts that share the same devices – e.g. KVM switches or complex server environments.
The module supports high-speed (480 Mbit/s), full-speed (12 Mbit/s) and low-speed (1.5 Mbit/s), integrates Multiple Transaction Translator (MTT) with one TT per downstream port as well as six non-periodic buffers for maximum throughput performance. USB Link Power Management (LPM), Battery Charging Specification 1.1/1.2 and Universal Charging Solution (UCS) are fully implemented. Further features: integrated transceiver, 5 V to 3.3 V LDO regulator, 12 MHz oscillator with PLL, power-on reset and comprehensive test functions (scan chain, built-in self-test for all AFE modules).
Available in 48-pin LQFP (7×7 mm) or QFN (5×5 mm). Configuration options include button or MCU mode and LED indicators per upstream port. Customers have access to datasheets, reference designs and ordering options.
